We have booked the tree surgeons (Arborist Tree Care) to come and fell the trees we have chosen to harvest this year: some big willows near the wildflower meadow which are beginning to split dangerously, a couple of sycamores in the plantation next to the lane plus an ash tree that is overshadowing the allotment garden.   On Tuesday we will be working in tandem with the fellers while keeping a safe distance, pulling out and processing the brash, transporting the logs to the car park for splitting and up to the drying bays for storage. On Wednesday we will concentrate on readying the ash for woodworking projects (see below). We try to maintain a variety of jobs during each session to suit different energy levels and prevent repetitive strain injuries.

If at any time you need to take a break/have some time off that’s fine, but please let us know so that we don’t have to send out search parties!

What to bring: We provide all bedding and towels. Please bring working/weatherproof clothes & sturdy boots. Indoor shoes and slippers are advisable and a torch for getting around at night. We do have a certain amount of wet weather clothing, overalls, welly boots and gardening gloves, but for comfort it is best to bring your own gear including hat.
