For groups we offer a relatively low cost yet comfortable, beautifully located and easy to get to venue for work or relaxation. It is a privilege to live in such a wonderful place and we know from what they tell us that groups get a lot out of coming here.
A group can either cater for themselves in our spacious and well-equipped kitchen or enjoy being cooked for with delicious vegetarian meals. Note that this latter option is by request only and may not be available.
Our accommodation is simple yet comfortable. The public rooms available to groups are spacious with wonderful views and this creates an atmosphere (along with the nature of our community) which is conducive to clear and new thinking and / or to feeling relaxed.
Access is good: we are centrally located and have the additional advantage that we are on the railway line from Manchester to Sheffield and these cities have good connections to all parts of the country.
For a working group a relaxing break is easy to programme in – a short walk around our woodlands, wetland areas and gardens will refresh the mind as will the local riverside walks.
For leisure groups, this is prime walking country: the Derwent Valley walk and reservoirs, Win Hill, Bamford Edge and Shatton Moor can all be walked from the doorstep, and a little further afield lie Kinder and Bleaklow, and the joys of the White Peak. We are also a handy accommodation venue for climbing including Stanage Edge. Our extensive library and common rooms are at the disposal of our visitors.
Please contact us with what you have in mind and we will see what we can do to accommodate you. Please note that alongside our organised retreats programme we have many other commitments like Working Saturdays, and some groups come here on a regular basis, so our advice is to contact us sooner rather than later.
